So much, so little time
I have been looking for a first owner-occupied property for some time now. This process has been less than enjoyable. I must say that most real estate professionals are not very professional, which is somewhat expected I suppose. If you’ve bought or sold a property you know exactly what I’m talking about. They are salespeople and as such they are really just looking to make the sale. I’m not saying that you should go out and try to buy/sell property without the assistance of a professional, but in this cut-throat market you need to be mindful of who you select to assist you in the process. You also need to be willing to do some of the research yourself. There are MLS sites available to the public for most cities to help you narrow in on what interests you. It may take some work to find out what you are really looking for, but the important thing is to make sure you communicate this to your representatives. Also, the prices are still pretty out of control.
Oh and if you’re planning to sell in this market, don’t.
So if you haven’t already checked it out, there is a great new organization, called VBR – Valley Bostons Rescue. They work to rescue Boston Terriers and place them in good homes. This is such a great cause. Check it out!!!
We’re starting the book club up again. I’ll be creating the blog for it using WordPress, but I need ideas for the name. Please let me know what you think!!!!
Into the new place has been relatively smooth. A week without a fridge, two weeks on an airbed, no kitchen sink (due to the lack of icemaker to prevent water from following everywhere), transitioning from boxes to closets, sending defective boxes back to Direct TV, resetting the new HD DVRs, poaching internet from the neighbors until ours is installed, furniture shopping (ouch), sorting through things you wonder why you even bothered to move, and relaxing once it’s all done. Do you know the feeling I’m talking about? It’s like that waiting to exhale sort of feeling and I’m just about there. I can’t believe how expensive hangers are when you need to buy 100 of them!
I don’t know anybody that likes to move. It’s a lot of work, a big headache, and considered one of the most stressful life events, along with death and divorce. The utilities, set-up costs, furniture, space planning, and on and on. Once, I moved 4 times in one year. No big deal back then. I had furniture that could take a beating, the old job paid for the movers and the set-up costs, it was almost always tax deductible, and it happened so fast that one minute I was here and the next I was there. This move is tending to have none of the convenience of the past. The one good thing in this latest venture is that I have my wonderful significant other there to keep me sane (relatively speaking).
People Have Been Asking me “What do you Want” so I’ve added a Wishlist to The Pages. Thanks for caring, everyone. Please share your list with me. It’s sooooo 2008 to do it.
Did it make anyone else as mad as me? There was a movie released in 2005 by Universal Pictures called The Skeleton Key. The end of this movie has been haunting me since I watched it over 3 weeks ago!!!!! If you haven’t seen it, check it out. If you have seen it, let me know your thoughts.
